Buy you know what always comes along with those springtime pleasures? The allergy sufferers out there know: Bucketloads of pollen and mould spores!!
Spring = Allergy Season
Whether it’s from trees, weeds, grass, or flowers, pollen is a major culprit for seasonal reactions. Mould spores cause plenty of problems, too, as they fill the air thanks to fungus growing on grass and last year’s dead plants. Throughout the season we move from snow mould (yes, it’s a thing!) to tree pollen to grass pollen to flower pollen. These seasonal threats can trigger itchy eyes, runny noses, hives, and soooo much sneezing. Between 20 and 30 per cent of Canadians suffer from some kind of seasonal allergy!

My Favourite DIY Solutions
Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint: This trio of essential oils is a powerhouse for dealing with springtime allergies!
Combined together, these oils are ideal for dealing with the discomfort that can result from seasonal threats such as pollen and moulds. They are three of doTERRA’s most potent oils for support of healthy respiratory function and reduction of inflammation.
Lemon is cleansing to the body’s systems and is frequently used for respiratory discomfort. Lavender is renowned for its calming and balancing effects and its soothing properties for skin, while Peppermint promotes feelings of clear breathing.
There are so many ways to use this trio!
- Combine 1-2 drops of each oil in a veggie capsule and take internally once a day when dealing with the effects of environmental irritants.
- Combine 20 drops each of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint in a 10mL rollerball bottle and fill up with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Roll on to the back of the neck, over sinuses, and across the bridge of the nose. You can also roll it into the palms, rub hands together, cup hands over mouth and nose, and inhale deeply.
- Diffuse 2-3 drops each of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint during the day and while sleeping.
- Add a drop of Lemon to your glass of water.
- Apply Lavender oil (diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil) to areas of skin that are itchy or irritated.
- Apply a diluted drop of Peppermint to the chest to support the feeling of clear breathing.
These oils also offer support for emotions: Lavender is calming and soothing, Peppermint fights mental fatigue, and Lemon promotes clarity and positivity.
