Essential oils can be used aromatically, topically, or internally, depending on the properties of the individual oil. Nearly every doTERRA oil and blend can be diffused, with very few exceptions. Using a diffuser is a perfect way for everyone in your home to receive the emotional and physical benefits of essential oils.
Why Diffuse?
Diffusing helps us take advantage of an oil’s most noticeable characteristic: Aroma. By putting essential oils directly into the air, we can affect both the feeling of our environment and our own emotions, which are so connected to aroma.
Essential oils can be used to enhance or regulate our feelings, whether we need to feel uplifted & energized, calm & grounded, or anything else on the spectrum of emotions.
While the aromatic use of essential oils is an amazing tool, there are other reasons to diffuse essential oils. Certain oils and blends can purify the air, help to maintain feelings of clear breathing and open airways, or minimize the effects of seasonal allergies.
How Do I Diffuse?
The best way to diffuse is cool mist (water) diffusion. Heating oils to diffuse them can alter their delicate chemistry. Cool mist diffusers use water to disperse the oil into the air.
Add cool water (filtered is best) to the fill line of your diffuser, then add two to six drops of oil to the water. Choose the time setting you desire and let it run. Only a small amount of oil needs to be used, making this a particularly economical way to use your oils.
The combinations of essential oils you can diffuse are endless, and you can create your own custom blends of oils to suit your specific purposes.
